Flying radio control helicopters is one of Mississippi's fastest growing hobbies! While still challenging, today's R/C helicopters are easier to fly and maintain than ever before. From palm-sized indoor helis like the Blade mCX and Blade mCX2, to high-performance aerobats like the E-flite Blade 400, Align T-Rex 600 3G, or the JR Vibe 90SG 3D, Hub City Hobby has a helicopter for you.

Beginners

If you're just getting started, your best bet is an electric coaxial (dual rotor) helicopter like the Blade CX3 RTF from E-flite. Nitro-powered helis are also an option, but are more expensive and difficult to fly than the coaxial electrics. If you would like to learn on a gas helicopter, it is highly recommended that you find an experienced R/C heli pilot to train you! A radio control flight simulator, such as RealFlight G5 from Great Planes or the Phoenix Pro Simulator 2.5, is also an excellent learning tool.

Moving Up

Once you've mastered the basics, you might want to consider an economical intermediate helicopter like the Blade SR from E-flite. Intermediate helicopters are faster and offer more precise control than coaxial rotor aircraft, making them a great "next step" for pilots working their way towards more aerobatic helis.

For intense aerobatic action, the ready-to-fly Blade CP Pro 2 and Blade 400, or the nitro-powered T-Rex 700 Nitro Pro Kit are excellent choices. If you want an even larger helicopter, JR's new Vibe 90SG Pro Kit is over 4-1/2 feet long, and is capable of extreme aerobatic and 3D maneuvers.
