Radio Control Cars

  • Radio Control Car Action – This is the official website of RC Car Action, a popular magazine for R/C car enthusiasts; it features product reviews, articles, and lots of links to cool R/C videos.
  • RC Driver – The internet home of RC Driver Magazine. Good coverage of R/C racing, informative product reviews, plus how-to articles and blogs by the magazine's staff.
  • ROAR – If you're interested in racing competitively, ROAR is the major sanctioning body for radio control car racing in the United States and Canada. Many club tracks require their members to also be members of ROAR.

Tracks and Clubs – Mississippi

  • Dirt RC Racing – Home of the Pine Belt's own R/C car club and their track, Riverside RC Raceway, which is located in Petal, MS. To find the most current information, visit their forum (use the "Forum" link at the top of their home page).
  • Flowood R/C Park – Website for a really nice indoor offroad track, located in Flowood. They also have a Facebook page.

Radio Control Planes

  • Academy of Model Aeronautics – The AMA is the world's largest model aviation association and the official national organization for that hobby in the United States. The AMA sanctions over 2,000 U.S. flying events each year, and has several thousand chartered member clubs. Many model aircraft clubs also require their members to belong to the AMA.

  • Model Airplane NewsModel Airplane News has been providing useful information to model aircraft fans since 1929, and their website is full of product reviews, news, and videos. This is also the online home of Electric Flight magazine, which specializes in electric powered planes and helicopters.

Clubs – Mississippi

  • Pinebelt RC – Pinebelt RC is a well-established club with a flying field located on the Oloh-Purvis road in western Lamar County.
  • Capitol City Radio Control Club – The Capitol City Radio Control Club is one of several AMA chartered clubs in the Jackson area; they fly at Hinkle Field, located in Buddy Butts Park on North McRaven Road in west Jackson.
  • Koast Air Modeling Society – This Gulf Coast club is based in Ocean Springs and flies at a field located behind the Jackson County landfill.
  • Mid-Mississippi R/C Club – The Mid-Mississippi R/C Club is located in the Jackson area; their field is located at the Hinds County Landfill south of Byram.
  • Mississippi Coast RC Club – The Mississippi Coast RC Club flies at Bob Miller Field, located on County Farm Road in Harrison County.

Conventions – Mississippi

  • CoastCon – CoastCon is Mississippi's oldest and largest science-fiction, fantasy, and gaming convention. CoastCon offers a variety of gaming opportunities in every major genre, from roleplaying games to collectible card games.
  • Hub Con – If you like games, you'll love Hattiesburg's own Hub Con. This is a great place to meet other gamers, especially if you're interested in miniature based games, including military/historical games, Warhammer Fantasy or 40K, Command Decision: Test of Battle, and other similar games.

  • National Model Railroad Association – The National Model Railroad Association has worked to advance the hobby of model railroading since its founding in 1935. Their website has many useful resources for beginners and experts alike.
